Issue: September 2000

So what do you think the pool is up to now?

Look on the back page for Photos of Patient Administration doing the do.

Admissions

Ok! So a lot has happened since January. This is the official unofficial Pad Rag. In no way is the Naval Medical Center San Diego responsible for the material that is presented herein.

This is a place where one may have their say in a way that reflects one?s feelings.

Instead of taking a physical swing at a supervisor, swing or sing here. Keep it clean but keep it tasty. Innuendos are welcomed here. Remember the two rules when voicing an opinion.

1.      The rule of common sense arbitrated by the Editor.

2.      For every action there is a reaction.

 Medical Records

The understanding is, Medical Records now have a new boss. Does anyone know why? Is it perhaps the fire got to hot in the kitchen? Who know? It has been said that the stress level has dropped 15 points. Medical Records haven?t felt the likes of this since the last Lapu Lapu luau 6 years ago.

Welcome Ruth to the clutches of Medical Records. We hear you share the honors with Lori.  Ruth and Lori, two very fine people. You can search ten years and you couldn?t find any better. Carol, how do you feel about that?  Did Sean really do a dance? Is it true Jackie that you stopped counting the days?

        Command Issues

Parking! Parking! Parking! Why was there a recreational building built above the ER instead of parking? What kind of business would be built without adequate parking for their employees? Why can?t there be multi-level parking built in the existing parking along side and below the Handicap parking? Would it ?might? spoil the beautiful view of the Florida Canyon? Lord forbid! The answer comes from the NMC Bazaar Court Yard Politics, simply put, Politics, politics politics! BUMMER! What ever happened to car pooling priority?

For Civilians only: If you have a work related problem your supervisor and or military leaders have trouble solving, call or write to your Congressman.

Military Officers and Enlisted should remember civilians do not fall under the UCMJ. No matter how you twist military law, it won?t work for Civilians. The Constitution Of The United States of America protects civilians. The same document you swore to uphold and protect with your life. The first amendment is the Freedom of Speech. Why do you suppose that is the very first amendment?

Forcing a civilian to speak English only in the workplace is unconstitutional. How would you enforce such a law in Federal places like Immigration, Customs, Embassy?s, and other agencies requiring foreign languages as a prerequisite for employment?

 Medical Boards

Winners! All of you. You were ready for inspection and you won. Great! Now go back to sleep.

A question for Mr. Ed!  How about a combined potluck with Archives?

 Archives

Lapu Lapu Day was celebrated by a potluck in Archives.

Lapu Lapu is a Filipino hero that ended the life of Sir Ferdinand Magellan by shooting into him a poisoned arrow.

The question came up, why have a potluck in the name of Lapu Lapu?  The answer is simple, whenever one in power abuses his/her power and makes one?s life miserable, then this ?Magellan? is subject to the poison arrows of his or her subordinates. When the poison works, the Magellan disappears.

Hi Pinky! How are you doing with your new drivers license. Now we understand that you have killed a fire hydrant. I know this is true because an angry German Shepherd filed a complaint.

 MILITARY

Many of the military would like to have a say in the way that they are treated. This is also a forum for you. If you have a particular bitch, say it here. It you want to praise someone say it here. If you want to sell something, go to the classified section. If you have a juicy tit bit, you can say it here; but remember the two rules.

PADALL

The Patient Administration Department of the Naval Medical Center, San Diego held a 4th of July picnic. Many of the civilians could not attend due to the fact that it would eat up valuable leave time.

The question is posed; if this is a organized Departmental function why are the civilians required to take leave? They are not required to take leave to attend official command functions such as award ceremonies, Captain Calls, Stand downs, or other volunteer services.

We have some new faces in the Department. Lets welcome HMC Mike Santillanes, Lt Francine Worthington and Lt Michael Grande. We will let you know when it is your turn in the barrel.

 Outpatient Records

"Oh what a wonderful world" was heard from a beautiful voice between the charts. "That's not professional and we can't have that kind of happiness here, so stop it!" said the Troll as he pulled another chart off the shelf.
